“If he says let’s stop prosecuting misdemeanors, certainly Alvin Bragg will probably jump on board. So will the DA in the Bronx and so will the DA in Brooklyn, and you’ll see the impact. Here’s the real rub there. The cops will continue to make those arrests. The problem is that they won’t be prosecuted. And here’s why that. Matters felonies routinely get knocked down to misdemeanors. Yeah, so not prosecuting misdemeanors is gonna take a lot of felonies. So you’re gonna have things like assault with a weapon, some serious assaults, etcetera. You get in there, you plead these things down. Mm-hmm. And you know, right now, Rikers has 6600 people approximately in it. They want to take that down by about 50%. So if you think we don’t lock anybody up now. Wait till the Zohrans get a hold of this town.”
