Florida Republican Congressman Byron Donalds joins Fox Across America With Jimmy Failla to explain how President Trump is doing everything in his power to correct the trade deficits the U.S. has with many other countries throughout the world.
“Number one, those countries are bigger now, economically speaking. The products are still cheap, but they’re not as cheap as they used to be because their standard of living in those other countries has increased. But then the biggest thing that’s been a disaster for the American people and the American worker is the wealth creation aspect of manufacturing is not in our country anymore. So our service industry has grown. People are getting product, but you’re not having that wealth effect here in the United States. The last thing is these countries have now created barriers against the United States for us sending goods over there. So in short, you have access to our markets, but we don’t really have as much access to your markets. And so Donald Trump is saying, no. If you want to have free trade, it’s got to be fair to the American people. It’s got be a fair to American business. And so even as we watched the last couple of days, not every country in the world, except China, is basically saying, hey, can we cut a deal? And Donald Trump is saying, yeah, sure, we can cut a deal. Come on in, let’s negotiate. And that’ll be that whole thing. And then China, look, at the end of the day, China still needs access to American markets. So eventually, they’ll be coming here too.”
Rep. Donalds, who is now running for governor in the Sunshine State, also tells Jimmy about a recent experience he had being confronted by an angry liberal protester. Listen to the podcast to hear the full conversation!
