Republican Strategist and Co-Founder of South & Hill Strategies Colin Reed joins FOX Across America With Jimmy Failla with guest host Paul Gleiser to discuss why Republican infighting could impact the goals of the Trump administration.
“Whichever party is just out of power, tends to tend to lose a bit of focus, if you will. It’s a lesson the Democrats I mean, they’re already in the wilderness and they haven’t even relinquished the reins of power yet, but they certainly will be once the Oval Office shifts hands. And, look, the Republican Party in recent years has become a large, raucous, diverse group of people at the big tent. And when there’s a big tent, there’s always different points of view, and that’s okay. But at the end of the day, we have to not let perfect become the enemy, the good, as you say. And remember that our 80% friend is not our 20% enemy. And there is just big structural challenges in this country right now. On the fiscal front, the deficit under control. Obviously, the horror that happened this week in New Orleans and Las Vegas getting tough on terrorism again. And this country has just been so wayward under the Biden years. It’s going to take so much work to undo the damage the last four years across the board. And to waste time fighting amongst ourselves about these silly procedural things. When we don’t have a big majority, we don’t have any real working room. It’s just crazy. And it’s just going to cut into President Trump’s remaining time in office. And also, the to do list has got so long. I mean, we saw what happened the end of last year when the the deal with the debt was last left until the last minute and we had all those unnecessary theatrics. And there are serious pressing issues right now. Start with the tax cuts that are going to expire, the Trump tax cuts that are going to expire at the end of this year without congressional action. I mean, the House needs to pass those ASAP and President Trump needs to sign them. Businesses, people who work in the private sector need certainty. They need to know that there’s not going to be a tax hike coming, a huge tax hike coming for them at the end of next year. And Congress has this nasty habit of taking all the important business into the last possible minute. And it’s just not how people in the private sector are able to operate. And there’s so much to do. There’s so much we need to do. And President Trump, he talked about so many things that the reason that voters across the board were drawn to him, younger voters, black voters, Hispanic voters. He talked about the things that he wanted to do, an agenda and a vision for this country. And we don’t have a monarch in this country. We pass laws and then the president signs them into law.”
