Fox News contributor and ex-senior adviser to former President Trump Kellyanne Conway joins Fox Across America With guest host Todd Piro to discuss former President Obama’s important role in determining whether his old friend President Biden should step down as the Democratic Party’s nominee.
“When President Obama gave Joe Biden that statement and that cover, it really it quieted a lot of the Democrats who wanted to pounce. He started to hear from the donors. He started to hear it from just an errant candidate here or there. But you didn’t hear it from the leadership. You didn’t hear it from the Clintons. You didn’t hear it from other notable people in the party. And I’m very curious now, two weeks later, to know if President Obama stands by what he said initially, which is, oh, everybody has a bad night, a bad debate. It’s okay. He was trying to tamp it all down. Now, if you’re a President Obama, you need to do the rescue and recovery mission again. They had him in 2020. They certainly trotted him out in 2022. Bill and Hillary Clinton were not invited many places. Michelle Obama did a couple appearances. It was really President Barack Obama who was most active on the stump. A lot of those candidates didn’t want Joe Biden with them, but most of them, if not all of them, requested President Obama. Here’s the big question that nobody’s chewing on what is going to be the role of President Barack Obama from here until November 5th? Will he gave that big convention speech where he said, Joe Biden’s hide? Will he go and meet with him in person and say it’s time to go? We don’t know the answer to that, but it’s a very important question. Had he stayed silent, I think other people who are close to Barack Obama, like David Axelrod, for example, saying, you know, this is going to be really hard to win, that already has a lot of heft. Or Van Jones, who also work for President Obama, that has a lot of heft, but not as much as it would have had Barack Obama not spoken. He did speak, and we really haven’t heard him publicly say anything differently.”
