Host of the “Kennedy Saves the World” podcast Kennedy joins Fox Across America With Jimmy Failla to share her thoughts on transgender swimmer Lia Thomas failing her challenge against rules that prevent her from competing in elite women’s races.
“I do have empathy for someone who wants to compete, and someone who, through whatever mechanism, no longer feels that they are in the right body. The important thing is, and the other Caitlyn, Caitlyn Jenner, has pointed this out on numerous occasions, when you go through puberty and you have testosterone, which is an organizing hormone, change your body, you can’t un-ring that bell. And so you are given some natural advantages that, are unfair when women themselves can’t dope, they can’t put substances into their body or they will get banned from competition that your body naturally gives you when you are a post pubescent male. So I think Martina Navratilova is right. There should be an open category for athletes who change genders who still want to compete. I don’t think we should be turning all of sport upside down to accommodate a very small fraction of athletes, and that’s what you would be doing. And you would also be inevitably denying someone a spot on a podium on the greatest stage in sport because you want to seem like you’re doing the right thing. And because of the advantages in that instance, it is not right.”
Jimmy and Kennedy also talk about President Biden appearing to freeze during a Juneteenth celebration at the White House earlier this week. Listen to the podcast to hear what else they discussed!
