Jamie Metzl joined Brian Kilmeade to discuss the impact of AI, all of the life-changing and lifesaving benefits, the need for all of us to have a role in developing and working with AI and how all of that ties into his new book “Superconvergence: How the Genetics, Biotech, and AI Revolutions Will Transform our Lives, Work, and World.” Jamie shared the story of his dad who was diagnosed with cancer, and is now thriving because of how the tools of AI and genome sequencing found a mutation in the cancer allowing it to be targeted. Jamie, who is a former member of the WHO Advisory Committee, also discussed the need for accountability on the origins of Covid-19. Metzl says if China, who sparked the worst pandemic in a century with 27 million excess deaths, can get away with this and we have the exact same scenario at some point in the future, they will do the exact same thing. Metzl says accountability is not about malicious retribution. It’s about transparency and accountability – they are the tools to make sure we can be as safe as possible in the future.
