Addiction has become such a staggering problem in America that many people have become desensitized to it. However, turning our heads the other way is the last thing we should be doing if we want to help those falling victim to this disease — which is why former Rhode Island Congressman Patrick Kennedy┬áis refusing to be quiet about it.

In his new book, ‘Profiles in Mental Health Courage,’ Congressman Kennedy shares how his personal struggle with addiction profoundly impacted his life, and how he would not have been able to be in long-term recovery if he wasn’t given the proper support and resources that so many addicts are not given.
