Evening Edition: SCOTUS Rules 9-0, Former President Can Stay On State Ballots

In their 9-0 decision, the Supreme Court ruled on Monday that former President Trump cannot be removed from Colorado’s state ballot–or any state ballot for that matter. The High Court unanimously agreed that the 14th Amendment gave states no powers for an “insurrectionist ban” and that states cannot bar candidates from running for federal offices. Former President Trump celebrated the decision on social media, calling it a “big win for America.” University of California at Berkeley Law Professor and former Deputy Assistant Attorney General, John Yoo, joins the podcast to discuss how the Court came to this decision, their expected ruling on presidential immunity, and its implications for the 2024 presidential race.
