Retired NYPD inspector Paul Mauro joins Fox Across America With Jimmy Failla to shed light on how the lack of security at the U.S. Southern border is leaving our country vulnerable to a potential terrorist attack.
“I can tell you that somebody who came over the border from a middle Eastern country or an area that was known to have a terrorist element, let’s say East Africa, al-Shabab or something like that, that set off every bell in the world because it was so rare. And most of these groups don’t really project power that far. So for some of these groups that really are not capable of projecting that far, to have somebody come over the border with ill intent, and you would get it, but it was very rare, for the numbers for that we’re seeing now to be what they are, absolutely astounding. I can’t convey to you what a sea change that is. You know, every bell in the world would go off locally, federally, etc.. I was in a task force, so I was dealing with the feds all the time. If we got somebody who said, hey, this guy came across the border and he’s clicking a number of buttons here that we really don’t like, there would be a scramble from here to Washington, literally, and there would be all sorts of mechanisms in place. The idea that we have now, people in the hundreds who check those boxes is unfathomable. And it really does show you, as Dana Perino said at the debate, and give her credit for great questions, she said at the debate, the further we get from 9/11, the closer we get to 9/10. And I think we’re seeing that play out now.”
