Evening Edition: Gov. Newsom Picks Feinstein’s Replacement, Who Is Laphonza Butler?
California Governor Gavin Newsom has selected Democratic strategist and former adviser to Kamala Harris’ 2020 presidential campaign, Laphonza Butler, to replace the late Senator Dianne Feinstein. Butler will become the first Black lesbian to openly serve in the Senate. Butler has been heading up ‘Emily’s List’, an organization that works to elect Democrat women who support abortion rights.
