Surges of migrants continue coming to the U.S.-Mexico border in hopes of entry, leading to what many deem an ongoing border crisis, as border patrol agents struggle to control the border with limited resources & a surplus of immigrants coming daily. This has impacted every state in America, as critics claim a loose border allows for deadly drugs like fentanyl to make their way to the U.S. while large groups of migrants overwhelm small border towns and take buses or planes to sanctuary cities that have now run out of space. One district particularly impacted is Texas’ 23rd district — which makes up 800 miles of the U.S.-Mexico border. On the Rundown, Congressman Tony Gonzales, who represents this district, joins to discuss how the border crisis continues impacting his constituents, why it’s up to Republican lawmakers in Congress to craft border legislation as the Biden administration neglects to do so, and what pathway he believes should be available to migrants wanting to enter the U.S. that is safe and efficient.

The August jobs report released on Friday bodes well for the U.S. economy, with the Labor Department reporting 187,000 jobs added. Unemployment changed unexpectedly, however, increasing to 3.8 percent, which is the highest jobless rate since February 2022. This marks one of the biggest jumps in unemployment since before the COVID-19 pandemic. Co-host of The Big Money Show on FOX Business Brian Brenberg joins the Rundown to break down the current state of the economy, explain why the rising unemployment rate can have positive impacts down the road, and explain why many companies are grappling with a hybrid-work model to save on spending.
