Last week, Miami Mayor Francis Suarez announced that he is running for president, officially joining the already crowded GOP field. Although he is considered a longshot according to recent polls,  if elected he would not be the first former mayor to make it to the White House. However, he would be the first to make the jump directly from mayor to Commander in Chief. Mayor Suarez joins the Rundown to talk about why Floridians should vote for him over Governor Ron DeSantis, why a Hispanic Republican should be the one to fix the nation’s immigration system and his strategies as he works to make it to the debate stage in August.

President Biden is ramping up re-election efforts, attending several campaign fundraisers during a three-day visit to California. Though it initially seemed he would be the Democratic Party’s obvious nominee choice in 2024, his two challengers, Marianne Williamson and Robert F. Kennedy Jr., are gaining more traction than most Americans initially expected — specifically Kennedy, who’s touting double digits in many recent polls. Could this mean the Democrats are ready for new leadership, or will President Biden ultimately win his party’s support? Former Deputy National Press Secretary of the Democratic Party Jose Aristimuño joins the Rundown to explain why he’s confident the President will be the Democratic nominee, as there’s little to no chance the DNC will turn against the party’s incumbent. He also shares why he believes Governor Ron DeSantis would pose a bigger threat to Democrats than former President Trump in a 2024 face-off and how he thinks President Biden is sufficiently responding to worries about his age & capabilities if he were to serve a second term.
