Homeland Chief In The Hot Seat Over “Out Of Control” Border

On Tuesday, the U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas testified before lawmakers in a House Committee hearing. The cabinet member faced many questions about the security of the southern border in light of the 2.2 million migrant arrests in 2022 and the recent resignation of top border official Christopher Magnus, who was asked to resign by Secretary Mayorkas last week. Republican members of Congress on the panel criticized Mayorkas’ job performance, with some even floating his resignation. Former Chief of US Border Patrol and retired acting ICE director Ronald Vitiello joins the Rundown to detail how the border patrol is being overwhelmed and the need for a shift in border policy.

President Biden held a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Monday ahead of the G20 Summit in Indonesia.
