Extra: Our Unedited Interviews With Utah Senator Mike Lee & Evan McMullin
Utah has been reliably red for decades, however, the Beehive State has attracted more media attention than expected during the 2022 midterms, as the Senate race became much more competitive than pundits would have ever guessed.
For weeks, Independent challenger Evan McMullin was narrowly behind two-time Republican incumbent Senator Mike Lee. While the latest polls suggest Sen. Lee’s lead growing, a surprise McMullin win would make the GOP’s chances of reclaiming power in the Senate more challenging.
Earlier this week on the FOX News Rundown, host Jessica Rosenthal spoke to both Sen. Lee and Even McMullin separately about their campaigns and this unusual race.
Sen. Lee explained how he plans to prioritize key voter concerns like inflation and border security, why he believes his Senate opponent is campaigning as an Independent, and his hopes that the midterms will ‘counterbalance’ the White House with a Republican-controlled Congress.
McMullin discussed why as a conservative independent he is committed to working across party lines to get things done, why he promises not to caucus with the Democrats, and why an Independent can best represent Utahans in Washington.
Due to time limitations, we could not include all of the conversations in our original segment. On the FOX News Rundown Extra, you will hear our entire interviews with both candidates in Utah’s senate Race, Sen. Mike Lee and independent Evan McMullin
