Shannon Bream: The Government Forgiving People’s Student Loans Doesn’t Ring Fair For Most Americans
Anchor of “Fox News At Night” Shannon Bream joins Fox Across America With Jimmy Failla to share her thoughts on the fairness of the White House’s student loan forgiveness plan.
“There have been so many analyses out there of this, a lot of nonpartisan groups saying, one estimate is $2,000 per taxpayer that this is going to cost everybody, whether you went to college or not, whether you took a loan or not. And I think that just fundamentally for most Americans doesn’t ring fair. There are unfair things in life. You know, we had a guest on the other night and she said, I don’t have kids. I pay taxes that fund education for K through 12. And I’m like, yeah, but those K through 12 kids aren’t going and signing up for loans by themselves and saying, I’m going to have this loan and then I’m going to make somebody else pay it. I mean, the majority of student loans are held by grad school and people with grad degrees. So these are choices you’re making as an adult when you’re legally able to go sign on the dotted line for something. And the whole argument of, well, what about my car loan? What about my mortgage? What about my rent? These things are too much for me now. There’s only so much the government can or should do.”
