Listen To The Full Interview Below:
Brit Hume, Senior political analyst for Fox News Channel joined the Guy Benson Show to react to the Biden economic team’s attempt to downplay the concerns reimagine what the definition of recession as bad economic news looms.
Hume reacted to the White House attempted spin saying,
“For a long as I can remember, guy going back many decades, the standard definition of a recession has been consecutive quarters of negative growth. So we’ve had one such quarter. We may have another. And the White House doesn’t like that definition apparently now and decides that it wants to use some other definition. Well, I scattered around a little today, guy, to see what other definitions might be available. Well, here’s one from Merriam Webster’s dictionary. A period of reduced economic activity. I can’t believe they would like that one better.”
Hume added,
“But, you know, when you get down to it, when you’re when you’re in a recession, politically, it’s you don’t like the word. But what really matters is what people are feeling and experiencing in their own lives. And now people are having a hard time, and it’s more inflation than the possibility of recession. But both are in the cards, and it’s not good and there’s no way to spin your way out of it.”
