Dana Perino: How Social Media Has Changed The Position Of White House Press Secretary
Co-Anchor of “America’s Newsroom” Dana Perino joins Fox Across America With Jimmy Failla to share her thoughts on the task ahead of incoming White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre. According to Dana, this role is slightly different than when she last held it in January of 2009.
“Marlin Fitzwater was the press secretary to Ronald Reagan. And then also for George H.W. Bush. He served as press secretary for eight years. [00:05:49][7.0] I guarantee you, there is no way a press secretary could serve for eight years today. Because the workload, the incoming, it’s just too much. The other thing is, this is the first or second time we’ve really kind of seen this, where an incoming press secretary has receipts from her past. Nobody knew who the heck I was when I became press secretary, and that was just fine. I had a kind of a blank slate. They don’t have blank slates now. I always thought of myself as a press secretary for all of America and not the press secretary for the Republican National Committee. And I took that very seriously. I don’t believe that is how it’s always looked at today.”
Dana also explains how the comfort zone Democrats have with the mainstream media is actually hurting their party. Listen to the podcast to hear what else she had to say!
