Eli Lake Reacts To UN Vote To Remove Russia From Human Rights Council
Listen To The Full Interview Below:
Eli Lake, National Security Journalism Fellow at Clements Center joined the Guy Benson Show to react to the United Nations vote to remove Russia from the Human Rights Council, after reports of egregious war crimes in Ukraine.
Lake reacted to the vote by saying,
“It’s a Band-Aid on a gaping wound. The fact that Russia has a veto and is a permanent member of the U.N. Security Council, which is the one committee at the U.N. that matters to an extent because the U.N. Security Council, in theory, is the way in which you can sort of legitimize inter- international interventions and its resolutions count in a sense as articles of international law. I mean, that’s that’s what sort of matters. And the problem is, is that as you pointed out before this interview with me is that, you know, Sudan, Libya, China, Venezuela, they’re still on the U.N. Human Rights Council.”
