Over the weekend, President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden joined the dignified transfer ceremony at Dover Air Force Base, witnessing the return of the remains of the 13 U.S. service members killed in the ISIS-K suicide bombing at the Kabul airport. Last week, as the Biden administration dealt with the fallout from the August 31st deadline for withdrawing from Afghanistan, two U.S. congressmen who served in the U.S. military, Republican Rep. Peter Meijer of Michigan and Democratic Rep. Congressman Seth Moulton of Massachusetts, carried out their own secret trip to Kabul to provide oversight on the U.S. government’s evacuation efforts. Rep. Meijer joins to discuss why he made this covert expedition, the realities on the ground in Kabul differing from the information being provided by the Biden administration, the unfortunate situation America finds itself in being forced to collaborate closely with the Taliban and what Americans can do to help the evacuation effort.
