Rep. Anthony Gonzalez (R-OH) Reintroduces Legislation Targeting China’s Influence On College Campuses
Listen To The Full Interview Below:
Congressman Anthony Gonzalez (R-OH/16) joined Fox News Radio’s Guy Benson Show to discuss the Chinese Communist Party’s growing influence on college campuses.
Congressman Anthony Gonzalez said,
“So my view is, is that the world is currently going through a bit of a crisis and trying to decide whether we believe in liberal democracy or we believe in illiberalism internationally. The biggest threat to that is the Chinese Communist Party. Domestically, we obviously have our own issues where we’re thinking through on that. But the Chinese Communist Party has basically taken a whole of government, whole of society approach to how they plan to defeat the United States in a liberal democratic values that have kept the world safe since World War Two. As part of that, infiltrating our college campuses, infiltrating our education system, and changing the way that we teach what it is that China does and who they are has been a big proponent, essentially to propagandize on our college campuses. And so what our Confucius Act would do is put a check on that, prevent universities from accepting those dollars and basically reverse some of the propaganda that has shown up on our college campuses as a result of these investments into our college institutions. I think it’s an enormously important component of the fight for our future, and I’m excited to see where it goes.”
