Rep. Tom Reed (R-NY): Gov Cuomo’s “Ego And Arrogance” Won’t Allow Him To Resign
On Fox Across America with Jimmy Failla, Rep. Tom Reed (R-NY) reacted to Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s press conference announcement about not resigning despite more allegations of sexually inappropriate behavior becoming public.
“You’ve got to remember who we’re dealing with. Governor Cuomo’s ego and arrogance doesn’t allow him to personally do a resignation. And that’s why I think you’re looking at an impeachment as the path that’s becoming more realistic and absolutely not running for reelection. And I think he’ll stay in office as long as possible to try to rehabilitate himself, I guess, in his mind. And then he can maybe get an opportunity somewhere else outside of politics after he leaves. But this guy is being held to account, like we’ve said for months, that it’s time for a moment ago and his days were numbered. And we said that four months ago when he was at 60 percent approval because I know this guy, his pride and his ego, it’s all about intimidation and power politics. And that’s wrong for the state and wrong for the country. And we knew what we were dealing with.”
“That’s exactly why we join in a bipartisan call for his resignation, because these elected officials represent the people. They represent the people that put him into office, and now he’s lost that confidence. And if you don’t have the confidence of the people that you represent, how can you make fundamental decisions? How are you going to make objective decisions rather than personal decisions that are looking for a way to protect yourself as you leave office and not seek reelection? This is why that call is growing and that’s why this support is there. And that’s why I do believe Governor Cuomo should resign. But his pride is not going to allow him to do that.”
