Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL): I Make No Apologies For Antifa Tweet
On Fox Across America with Jimmy Failla, Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) offered “no apology” for his tweet regarding Antifa and why he’s tired of the left showing support for those damaging business and their own communities.
“So the Justice Department of our country designated Antifa For a terrorist organization, which was the right decision. And I’m of the belief that the reason you designate people terrorists is not to virtue signal, not to put that designation in a frame on the wall and stare at it, it’s so you can hunt them down, freeze their assets, track their movements and stop them from harming Americans. I am so sick and tired of watching these riots and then listening to left wing commentators and celebrities tell me that these are people expressing their First Amendment view when they’re smashing cars, when they’re beating up shop owners, when they’re causing people to feel unsafe in their communities. This is part of a permanent criminal element in our society. And we ought to have a government that is strong enough to fight back. That’s what President Trump has initiated. And I make no apology for saying that we ought to hunt down and Antifa, not in a vigilante way, but in a way that is consistent with the Department of Justice’s designation. So for saying that Twitter had the “woke police” apparently contact them and they have to take down the Gaetz tweet. I think it was that Senator from Connecticut that’s always whining and crying about something. And he initiated this endeavor to have Twitter censor my message. I guess they they put their label on it, that they think that it is glorifying violence, which really is a lot of B.S. coming from Twitter, because when Colin Kaepernick glorifies violence, they don’t seem to have any problem with that.”
