U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Jerome Adams has a message for Americans.

“We aren’t going to treat our way out of this problem. The best way to lean in to this is not to think antibody testing is going to be a miracle or that any other thing is going to be a substantial game changer more so than really leaning in to mitigation.”

Dr. Adams emphasized that Americans should not be looking to miracle treatments or off label use of pharmaceuticals to stop the coronavirus. Really, Americans should simply practice what their mothers taught them when they were children.

“People don’t believe this, they don’t want to hear it because it’s what your mother told you when you were a little kid, literally the most important thing we can do isn’t get more chloroquine, it isn’t antibody testing, it isn’t all these other things. It’s wash your hands and stay at home,” he said.
