FOX’s Chad Pergram talks about the carol of singing Senators this week on the ‘Speaker’s Lobby’:
I’m Chad Pergram with the Speaker’s Lobby.
There used to be a barbershop quartet of singing Senators in the 1990’s, which included Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott.
During a recent late night vote, a chorus of Senators spontaneously burst into a series of Christmas carols.
The crooners: Heidi Heitkamp of North Dakota, Virginia’s Tim Kaine and Mark Warner, Chris Coons of Delaware, Tina Smith of Minnesota, Kamala Harris of California, Indiana’s Joe Donnelly, New York’s Kirsten Gillibrand and Mazie Hirono of Hawaii.
Included in the set list was The First Noel, The Little Drummer Boy, Silent Night, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Winter Wonderland, The Christmas Song, Come All Ye Faithful, Go Tell It on the Mountain and O’Holy Night.
It’s unclear if Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell spiked the Senate eggnog with Kentucky bourbon to elicit the Congressional caroling.
But..they did NOT sing this:
(Baby It’s Cold Outside – Dean Martin)
