President Trump’s top diplomat and Pentagon chief are trying to convince Senators to stick with Saudi Arabia.
FOX’s Jared Halpern has more from Capitol Hill:
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is urging Senators to hold off on an effort to end U.S. involvement in a Saudi-led military campaign in Yemen, saying after a closed-door briefing a cease-fire is close:
(Pompeo): “It’s something we have diplomatically been striving for, for months and we think we’re on the cusp of that.”
But Senators who heard from Pompeo and defense Secretary James Mattis were unconvinced and suggest growing support for a resolution to end U.S. support, especially after the killing of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
