A spending bill that funds the military and keeps government open past the midterm elections wins bipartisan support in the Senate.
FOX’s Jared Halpern has more from Capitol Hill:
The wide-ranging appropriations bill provides nearly $700 billion for the Pentagon – it includes a 2.6 percent pay raise for the military service members.
The measure also approves funding for Health and Human Services, Education and Labor Department agencies.
Lawmakers attached a short-term spending bill to the package funding the rest of government and put off the risk of a government shutdown until December 7. It also means any debate over President Trump’s proposed border wall waits until then as well.
The Senate approved it 93 to 7. The House is expected to vote next week.
