The Senate moves closer to avoiding a government shutdown, but a controversial spending item is still up in the air.

FOX’s Jared Halpern has more from Capitol Hill:

The Senate has approved another batch of spending bills. This appropriations package funding Defense, the Departments of Education, Labor and Health and Human Services.

It brings the total number of annual spending bills approved by the Senate to nine, that’s about 87 percent of funding for the upcoming Fiscal Year.

However, so far, none of the spending bills address the President’s proposed southern border wall. President Trump has threatened a government shutdown if border wall funding isn’t approved.
