Congress is coming together to honor the “Queen of Soul”.

FOX’s Anna Eliopoulos has more:

A group of bipartisan lawmakers in the House and Senate is making a push for Aretha Franklin to posthumously get the Congressional Gold Medal of Honor.

California Democratic Senator Kamala Harris and Utah Republican Orrin Hatch have introduced a bill calling for the “Queen of Soul” to be awarded the highest commendation from Congress.

Senator Harris called Franklin’s library “the soundtrack of her childhood”… While Senator Hatch said that Franklin’s songs lifted “all of us with songs of hope and humanity.”

They are being joined in the effort by Georgia Republican Congressman Doug Collins and Michigan’s Brenda Lawrence.
