President Trump Announces He Will Not Certify Iran Nuclear Deal
President Trump looking for a tougher stance on nuclear development, though he is not looking to completely toss the Iran Deal.
FOX’s Jon Decker reports from the White House:
After receiving recommendations from his national security advisor, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and Defense Secretary James Mattis, President Trump announced that he will not certify Iran’s compliance with the the 2015 multinational agreement:
(President Trump) “We will not continue down a path whose predictable conclusion is more violence, more terror and the very real threat of Iran’s nuclear breakout.”
President Trump says it will now be up to Congress to establish so-called “trigger points,” which could prompt the U.S. to reimpose sanctions on Iran if it crosses thresholds set by the House and Senate.
