Equifax Data Breach Worries Millions

    Equifax announced Tuesday that its chief executive is stepping down immediately after the company disclosed a massive data breach. It took weeks for Equifax to notify the public that the breach exposed Social Security numbers and birth dates of more than 143 million people. The handling of the breach caused an outcry from consumers, lawmakers and cyber security experts. The data breach is more concerning the other recent breaches involving Target and Yahoo because of the amount and type of data stored by Equifax and other credit reporting companies.
