Beyonce Faces a Lawsuit Over Her Song “Formation”

Beyonce is facing a lawsuit over her song “Formation.”

FOX News Michelle Pollino reports:

At the beginning of Beyonce’s “Formation” she uses a sample of a dead New Orleans rapper… And she thinks that’s fine to use. The singer filed a response to a lawsuit from the estate of Anthony Barre, according to TMZ, her lawyer says its okay to use that sample because its use is minimal, so it’s “reasonable and justified.” But Barre’s estate says it never signed off on the use and wants $20 million in back royalties.

Beyonce’s team is not budging, saying because it only used it once, it doesn’t require compensation. For the record, it’s about six seconds long.

They also invoke the First Amendment as justification for using Barre.
