Woman Gives Birth Alone During Hurricane Irma
An expecting mother wound up having her baby inside of her own home in Miami during Hurricane Irma. There’s also one other part of this story… She was by herself!
FOX’s Jim MacKay has the story:
The woman was in her home in Miami’s Little Haiti neighborhood on Sunday right as Irma was starting to ramp up early in the morning and then she went into labor.
She was by herself and dialed 9-1-1. However the storm was so bad, EMS workers couldn’t get to her home. So she was coached over the phone by an emergency operator and other medical staff on everything she needed to do for a successful delivery and that’s exactly what happened.
As soon as it was safe to do so an ambulance was sent to her home. Mom and her new baby girl are now happy and healthy at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami.
