Congress is expected to take up an emergency funding measure for areas hard hit by Hurricane Harvey.

FOX’s Jared Halpern has more from Washington:

President Trump is promising swift action on a federal disaster aid package for areas impacted by Hurricane Harvey and the chairman of the House Appropriations Committee in a statement says the committee stands ready to provide necessary additional funding for relief and recovery and is awaiting requests from federal agencies on the ground.

Lawmakers from New York and New Jersey have criticized Texas lawmakers who voted against a disaster package for Super Storm Sandy.

Those lawmakers argue the bill designed for recovery in the northeast was packed with pork funding programs well beyond Sandy’s impact.
