Facebook Banning White Nationalists Involved in Charlottesville Violence

Facebook doubling down on its fight against hate speech.

FOX’s Krystin Goodwin has the details:

Facebook is banning participants of the deadly white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia on the social network and on its video sharing app Instagram.

A spokeserperson for the company tells the Associated Press it removed at least eight profile pages connected to the extremist movement for violating Facebook’s policies on hate speech.

This includes the “White Nationalists United” page and the profile of rally promoter Christopher Cantwell. The New Hampshire man was featured in a vice news documentary detailing the event. His profile and page promoting his podcast are no more.

In a post Monday, Facebook chief operating officer Sheryl Sandberg condemned the “bigotry and hatred” of white supremacists.
