What is Alt-Right?

After the violence in Chartlottesville, some are asking: what is the alt-right?

FOX’s Rachel Sutherland reports from Washington:

Pepe the frog, Confederate flags, “The Deporables.” Welcome to the alternative right, a growing movement encompassing many brands of far-right conservatism. Richard Spencer, president of the National Policy Institute, a white nationalist think tank, has called the alt-right:

(Spencer) “A banner for an emerging identity politics for the United States and it’s identity politics for people of European descent.”

Also under the umbrella of the alt-right: men’s rights activists and anti-globalists. The Anti-Defamation League has described the movement as one that rejects mainstream conservatism in favor of forms of conservatism that embrace implicit or explicit racism or white supremacy.
