Country Legend Charlie Pride: “So Fortunate to Receive So Many Awards” in My Life

FOX’s Ashley Dvorkin shares more from her interview with country legend Charlie Pride about his new studio album and a special song from the album. That’s in this “FOX Country Profile”:

Country legend Charlie Pride just released a new album called ‘Music in My Heart.’ It includes one particularly sentimental song, called ‘The Way It Was in ’51,’ considering his friend, the late Merle Haggard, wrote it:

(Pride) “My son, he’s an entertainer too. He has worked with Merle’s son, Marty Haggard, and in fact they call him the Legends Four: Conway Twitty, Michael Twitty, Conway Twitty’s son, Merle’s son, and Georgette and George Jones daughter and my son Dion. He was in my office and I was playing it for him and he listened. He did that’s ‘The Way It Was in ’51.’  He said you know, I said I know, Merle, I heard him singing… He said he wrote it.. I said really? He said yeah!”

Pride recently received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award:

(Pride) “You know I’ve been so fortunate to been able to receive so many awards and all.”

A biopic about Pride’s life is in the works and he hopes to have it made soon.
