Discovery Communications Just Got Larger

A couple of companies that produce popular shows on cable are teaming up.

FOX’s Ginny Kosola reports:

Scripps Network Interactive, the company that produces ‘Fixer Upper’ and ‘Property Brothers’ is merging with Discovery, which is also the parent company of Animal Planet and Travel and Leisure:

(Property Brothers) “It has three bedrooms, one bathroom, over 1200 square feet. And I think this is a perfect property for a newly engaged couple to start their lives together in.”

Discovery will buy Scripps for $90 a share. The deal is valued at approximately $14.6 billion. In addition to HGTV, Scripps also owns the Food Network and Cooking Channel.
