The White House revives a government-wide policy council for space, to be headed by Vice President Mike Pence.

FOX's Jon Decker has more from the White House:

The new National Space Council, established by executive order, will likely set broad goals like deep space exploration and future missions to Mars, spanning both manned and unmanned programs:

(President Trump) "Space exploration is not only essential to our character as a nation, but also our economy and our great nation's security."

One of the council's primary missions is expected to be dealing with the bureaucratic logjam that has resulted in overly expensive launches of national-security satellites.
