An MLB umpire has saved a woman’s life in Pittsburgh.
FOX’s Jack Callaghan has the story:
Major League umpires have been called every name in the book, but National League ump John Tumpane is now being called ‘hero’. He spotted a woman climbing over the railing on the Roberto Clemente bridge near Pittsburgh’s PNC Park before Wednesday’s Pirates game.
Unable to talk her down, Tumpane and another man grabbed her and hung on until help arrived. Telling a post game news conference its not about him:
(Tumpane) “This was an unbelievable day and I’m glad to say that she can have another day with us. And glad I was in the right place at the right time.”
John Tumpane said he told the woman he’ll never forget her and intends to look in on her the next time he’s in Pittsburgh.
