Former CIA Officer Won’t be Re-Sentenced

A former CIA officer will stay in prison.

    FOX’s Chris Foster reports:

Jeffrey Sterling was sentenced in 2015 to three and a half years in prison, convicted under the Espionage Act of leaking government secrets to a reporter.

The Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals in Virginia now rules, there is no reason for him to be re-sentenced. Sterling is accused of telling the New York Times reporter James Risen about a CIA mission to stall Iran’s nuclear program.

His book suggests the plan may have backfired, which the CIA denies.

Sterling denies being the source of the leak, suggesting it was a congressional staffer with whom Sterling shared his concerns.
