Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch Issues His First Opinion
U.S. Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch has issued his first opinion since joining the high court.
FOX’s Rachel Sutherland reports from Washington:
In a nine-to-zero ruling, the Supreme Court said the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act does not cover third-party debt collectors, companies that buy debt and then work to get it back. The Justices upheld the dismissal of a class-action against Santander Consumer USA Holdings, Incorporated, that case was the first authored by new Justice Neil Gorsuch.
In an 8-to-zero ruling, the Supreme Court sided with Microsoft in a class action over its X-Box 360 console. Consumers claimed the console scratches discs. The Justices said the consumers didn’t have the right to appeal a lower court ruling in the case.
