Jay Sekulow: James Comey Could Be Investigated For Leaking The Memo Of His Conversations With President Trump

“The former director of the FBI makes an affirmative statement that he created a memo, leaked that memo to a friend of his and that memo included conversations he had with the President of the United States and that is covered by executive privilege and that leaking may in violation of the law…James Comey better be very, very careful….I question the verbosity of the document. The fact that he intentionally leaked it to a friend of his from Columbia Law School who leaked it to a reporter, this is the former FBI director, this should tell us how serious James Comey, how serious trouble James Comey is going to be in when this is done. He will end of being the target of this investigation.”

—Jay Sekulow on his belief James Comey could be investigated for leaking the memo on his conversation with President Trump

Jay Sekulow, Chief Counsel of the American Center for Law and Justice told Brian Kilmeade James Comey testifying he leaked a memo he took on his meeting with President Trump opens the door for serious legal trouble for the former FBI director and may wind up being the target of an investigation for his actions.

Listen here:

Jay Sekulow on James Comey potentially being in violation of the law for leaking the memo of his conversation with President Trump

(Sekulow) The former director of the FBI makes an affirmative statement that he created a memo, leaked that memo to a friend of his and that memo included conversations he had with the President of the United States and that is covered by executive privilege and that leaking may in violation of the law and we are researching that now. A very serious allegation, James Comey better be very, very careful.

(Kilmeade) So he had his own record, did he record it at the time or did he recreate it in his mind.

(Sekulow) He recreated it after the fact, I question the verbosity of the document. The fact that he intentionally leaked it to a friend of his from Columbia Law School who leaked it to a reporter, this is the former FBI director, this should tell us how serious James Comey, how serious trouble James Comey is going to be in when this is done. He will end of being the target of this investigation.

(Kilmeade) Jay, that is a huge leap

(Sekulow) Yep

(Sekulow) He discloses what he wants to disclose, he doesn’t disclose what he doesn’t want to disclose and he is playing fast and lose, he is not J. Edgar Hoover ok, we are not going through that again in the United States. This is a guy who should have been terminated on multiple occasions, he is not a credible witness and his cover himself memo and leaking that creates a serious legal problem for James Comey.
