Fudgie The Whale Turns 40
An iconic dessert is celebrating a big birthday.
FOX’s Tonya J. Powers has more:
Fudgie the whale is turning 40.
(Carvel) “Fudgie the whale is back. That’s a whale of a cake for a whale of a dad.”
Fudgie isn’t just an ice cream cake, he’s been a pop culture icon since 1977…And has even been mentioned in dozens of TV shows.
He’s made by carvel, an ice cream franchise known for its soft serve, that grew to popularity after its start in the Northeast in the 1930’s.
And in case you’re tempted to get Fudgie a 40th birthday present, don’t. Carvel is asking fans to donate instead to help save other whales, real ones.
The company will make a donation to “save the whales” when customers buy a Fudgie the Whale Cake.
