Guy Ritchie: Taking 2/3rd’s Narrative out of ‘King Arthur’ Allowed a Clearer Story
FOX’s Ashley Dvorkin takes a deeper look into the upcoming film “King Arthur: Legend of the Sword” in her ”FOX Celebrity Profile”:
I’m Ashley Dvorkin with your FOX Celebrity Profile.
Guy Ritchie’s ‘King Arthur: Legend of the Sword’ has the signature tone audiences may expect from the director:
(Ritchie) “It takes about 10 seconds to come up with that idea and then it takes about three years to try to get the tone right.”
He spoke about why it’s a tale worth revisiting now:
(Ritchie) “The problem with ‘King Arthur’ in a two hour movie is there’s too much narrative. However if you take out 2/3rd’s of that narrative, you’re left with a sword and Arthur and you can deal with all sorts of other characters in another episode. So that allowed us to have a nice clear story that was comprehensive and clear to understand.”
Ritchie is known for working with friends, in this film, he even cast soccer star David Beckham:
(Ritchie) “We tried to make him as unattractive as possible so you won’t be blinded by his good looks.”
Ritchie also teams up with Jude Law once again for ‘Arthur’ and explained that it’s just a rapport that makes things easier:
(Ritchie) “If you can if you can start a sentence and an actor can finish it for you than it makes my life much easier.”
