Deputy AG Rosenstein to Field Questions from Senate
The deputy Attorney General who recommended President Trump fire the FBI director is expected to answer questions for the Senate next week.
FOX’s Jared Halpern has more from Capitol Hill:
Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer’s office is confirming Deputy AG Rod Rosenstein will brief Senators next week. Schumer requested the briefing earlier this week:
(Schumer) “Where Senators from both parties can ask and get answers to serious questions hanging over us is imperative.”
The top Republican and Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee also requested follow up briefings from Rosenstein and acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe.
White House officials initially said President Trump fired Comey on the recommendation of Rosenstein and Attorney General Jeff Sessions. President Trump later told NBC News his mind was made up regardless of those recommendations.
