Students Turn Backs on U.S. Education Secretary During Commencement Speech

U.S. Education Secretary Betsy DeVos barely completed her keynote address at Florida’s Bethune-Cookman University, as attendees jeering often grew too loud inside the arena at the historically black campus.

FOX’s Eben Brown reports from Miami:

The boos for secretary DeVos began before she even took the podium at Bethune-Cookman University, in Daytona Beach. University president Edison Jackson tried introducing her:

(Jackson) “Our next candidate for honorary doctorate is the honorable Betsy DeVos. I now ask the honorable…”

    And it continued:

(DeVos) “Thank you so very, very much for this great honor and privilege…”

To the point Dr. Jackson threatened to send people away:

(Jackson) “Your degrees will be mailed to you.”

Students had in the run-up to commencement, petitioned to dis-invite the secretary.
