Dale Jr’s Farewell Tour Kicks Off in Richmond

It’s Dale Jr’s world and NASCAR is just living in it.

FOX’s Chris Hoenig has this week’s NASCAR preview:

The Dale Earnhardt Jr. farewell tour gets underway this weekend in Richmond, the first race since his retirement announcement:

(Earnhardt Jr.) “I just wanted the opportunity to go out on my own terms.”

A chance he nearly missed when a concussion knocked him out of the second-half of last year’s races…

For Kurt Busch, it’s the end of the road for a legend:

(Busch) “To me there is nobody that will ever replace Dale Jr.”

Green flag in the Toyota owners 400 set for 2 p.m. Eastern on Sunday. 400 laps around the 3/4 of a mile d-shaped oval.

Stage 1 ends after lap 100, stage 2 after lap 200…

And drivers and fans alike will notice the candy cane-painted barriers. Raceway officials painting the exterior walls with alternating red and white stripes to pay homage to the track’s early days.

Elsewhere, a fine for Martin Truex Jr’s crew chief… Cole Pearn docked $10,000 after a post-race inspection found an improperly installed lug nut on the No. 78 Toyota, which finished 8th at Bristol last week.
