Devin Nunes had come under fire after claiming that a secret source had provided him with information suggesting President Trump and his aides may have been “monitored” by U.S. intelligence during his transition. House Speaker Paul Ryan:

(Ryan) “Chairman Nunes wants to make sure that this is not a distraction to a very important investigation. So he wants to go clear himself while this investigation continues on without any kind of distractions.”

The House Ethics Committee has begun an investigation into allegations that Nunes may have made what it called “unauthorized disclosures of classified information,” in possible violation of House rules.
