An American restaurant named the 'Best in the World'.

11 Madison Park in New York City taking top honors on the annual list of the World's 50 Best Restaurants.

The first time in more than a decade an American restaurant's landed the spot on the list based on a poll of international chefs, restaurant critics and others.

Chef and co-owner Daniel Humm in a 'FOX and Food' interview saying he started cooking in 1990 in Switzerland:

(Humm) "I fell in love because I wanted to work with my hands and perfect how to bake a bread or perfect how to braise a meat."

11 Madison Park bumping Osteria Francescana in Italy down to number two, 2015 winner Spanish restaurant El Celler de Can Roca came in third.

Some U.S. restaurants which made the cut: Blue Hill at Stone Barnes, Le Bernardin, Saison and Cosme.
