President Trump Tackling Opioid Addiction
The President is pushing to launch a national fight against the opioid epidemic, now the leading cause of accidental deaths in the U.S.
FOX’s Jon Decker reports from the White House:
At an opioid and drug abuse listening session, the President highlighted a sobering number from the CDC, more than 33,000 people died from opioids in 2015:
(President Trump) “And I think it’s probably almost un-talked about, compared to the severity that we’re witnessing.”
The President is preparing an executive order setting up a commission, which would tackle prevention and interdiction, giving particular attention to addiction recovery and improving access to treatment.
